Send Springfield a Message. Change the Way THEY Do Business!

Would you like the chance to vote YES for change in Springfield?

Well, you're in luck! For the first time in 20 years, this November 4th, Illinois voters will get a chance to vote "YES" to call for a new Constitutional Convention for Illinois.

A Constitutional Convention could call for major changes to our dysfunctional state government. With citizen leadership, a Convention could bypass the gridlock in Springfield and address decades-old structural problems that have stopped real solutions for important problems from getting done.

Whether you care about school funding, healthcare access, or tax reform, a Constitutional Convention could be our best chance to make change. Use the links to the left to learn more. To get involved, email volunteer@conconillinois.org. To receive updates, SIGN UP HERE

Another Opportunity for “Change” on the Ballot This Fall

Another Opportunity for “Change” on the Ballot This Fall
by Gregory F. Augustine Pierce

In the upcoming Illinois primary, the presidential candidates of both parties will agree on just one thing: that change is in the air and that change is good. All the candidates now tout their credentials as “agents of change.”

As compelling as their arguments may be, every voter knows that this sudden flirtation with change could cool at any time. Or a candidate who runs a campaign committed to change could become very cautious once in the Oval Office. Or the opponents of change may batter a new president once he or she is in office.

Besides, it is dangerous to assume that one person, even a person as powerful as the next president, can generate the change that's needed to fix what's wrong with our state and our nation. In fact, any understanding of the depth of dysfunction at the local and federal level points to the need for a much broader and deeper strategy of repair and revitalization.

In Illinois, on November 4, we will have a rare opportunity to demonstrate that we don't just want to delegate our desire for change to the next person who occupies the Oval Office but that we want to create lasting change in our state and participate in that process of change. The opportunity to do just that will be presented to voters in the form of a question far down the November ballot. We will be asked to vote 'yes' or 'no' on whether or not we should call a constitutional convention in Illinois.
